Many first time homebuyers and others ask the question "where do I start?" And that is easy-we highly recommend, as do the most professional real estate agents, to get preapproved before you start your serious home search. The very first step is either a quick phone call to me or optionally you can click on my "Apply Now" and complete the short form there. The main things we want to look at initially are your gross income, your employment history for the last 2 years, a bit about your consumer debt, and a few words about your credit history. Then I'll ask your permission to run your credit-we'll need your social security numbers and your birthdates for that. If all is well with this first step we will then ask you for income and asset documentation and we will get your pre-approval. I like, if at all possible, to meet with first time homebuyers-face-to-face-this meeting is like a personalized homebuyers seminar and over the years I have found that the purchase process goes very smoothly once we have done this. I work evenings and Saturdays by appointment and can travel to meet you at a convenient place-I have clients from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs and Vail to Bennett Once we have your preapproval and know how much you can buy, your real estate agent will be comfortable showing you homes in the price range for which you have been pre-approved.
